Over the years I have found that my personal philosophy on life has set the tone for all my life experiences. Similarly, as a player, I realized how critical my tennis philosophy was to my success on the court. It totally shaped the way I approached the game of tennis and formed the basis for what I considered my winning formula. That is why I started the book with the chapter on philosophy. It is where all successful play starts. It forms the foundation for all the other chapters.

The next four chapters provide information to get the player prepared for a match. It will educate him on things to be considered and need to be understood in developing his game plan. Chapters 6-10 deal with aspects that occur during the match and will need to be mastered to play his best tennis. The last chapter contains information on the flow of a match. Every match has a flow to it and this chapter explains the aspects that help the player manipulate that flow.

Each of the chapters contains valuable tips and information which relates to each of the other chapters. The reader does not have to read each chapter in order. However, the book must be read and reread. There is simply too much information to learn and assimilate in one reading.

It is one thing to have all the knowledge contained in this book, and quite another thing to remember to use it at the appropriate time in a match. I can still recall matches where I failed to utilize it on key points and it made a difference in the outcome of the match. The main thing is to keep working on the concepts to improve your mental game and the victories will surely follow.
